Montserrat’s Thandie Williams Representing at the Future Leaders in Football Programme in Mexico

The Montserrat Football Association congratulates Ms. Thandie Williams, Acting General Secretary, on her participation in the 7th edition of the Future Leaders in Football (FLF) Programme, held from June 10–15, 2026, in Mexico City.

Thandie was identified and nominated by Concacaf as a future female leader in football, an honour that reflects her commitment to leadership, service, and the continued development of the game in Montserrat and the wider region.

This edition of the FLF Programme focused on the Concacaf region, bringing together 18 participants from football federations, confederations, and sport organisations across the Caribbean and Central America.

The programme, an initiative of the German Football Association (DFB), in partnership with GIZ and Volkswagen, combined leadership training, knowledge exchange, practical Sport for Development sessions, and meaningful networking. It explored how football can be used as a powerful tool to foster education, social cohesion, gender equality, empowerment, and sustainable community development.

Reflecting on the experience, Thandie shared:

“I am deeply honoured to have been identified and nominated by Concacaf as a future female leader and to have had the opportunity to represent Montserrat on such an international platform.

Coming from a small island football association, this experience reminded me that leadership is not defined by the size of where you come from, but by the vision and commitment you bring to the work.

The programme allowed me to connect with inspiring women and leaders from across the Concacaf region, exchange ideas, and build meaningful networks with persons who are committed to using football as a tool for positive change.

It also reinforced the importance of leading with confidence, authenticity, and purpose. I am committed to using the knowledge, relationships, and inspiration gained through this experience to contribute to stronger football structures, greater inclusion, and more opportunities for everyone both on and off the field.”

Thandie’s participation is a reminder that Montserrat has a place in regional and global football conversations, and that through leadership, collaboration, and vision, football can continue to inspire change far beyond the pitch.
