Boatswain’s Brilliant Brace Fires Montserrat to Victory Over Turks and Caicos Islands in Nations League Opener

Montserrat made a dream start to their new CONCACAF Nations League campaign, putting on a dominant display to secure a 2–0 victory against the Turks and Caicos Islands at the TCIFA National Academy in Providenciales.

Coming into the fixture with clear ambitions under the guidance of head coach Gabriel Calderon Pellergrino and captain Lyle Taylor, the Emerald Boys took control of the tempo right from the opening whistle. They immediately put pressure on the hosts’ defence, creating multiple dangerous looks in the final third.

The breakthrough came in the 40th minute when Ashley Boatswain capitalized on the team’s relentless pressure, finding space to fire a phenomenal strike into the top corner and send Montserrat into the halftime break with a well-deserved 1–0 advantage.

The hosts attempted to turn the tide after the interval, managing to balance the pace and put together brief spells of possession and attacking pressure. However, Montserrat’s defense held firm, marshaled effectively while keeping the home side from finding any clear-cut equalizer.

In the 70th minute, Boatswain struck again to put the game out of reach. Alex Dyer delivered a clinical, well-placed cross right into the danger area, where Boatswain met it with a powerful header that sailed into the back of the net for his second of the match.

With the final whistle sealing the 2–0 scoreline, Montserrat successfully captured all three points in their opening match of the tournament. The clean sheet and victory place the Emerald Boys at the summit of Group A in League C, providing ideal momentum as they look forward to the rest of their campaign.
