Team First, Excellence Rewarded: Barzey and Taylor Named to Concacaf Nations League C Best XI
MONTSERRAT — Montserrat’s flawless run through the 2026 Concacaf Nations League C Group Stage was, above all else, a triumph of unity, tactical discipline, and total squad effort. Every player who stepped onto the pitch for the Emerald Boys contributed to an immaculate campaign—four wins from four matches, 12 points, 11 goals scored, and just one conceded.
While the team’s collective spirit remains the foundation of Montserrat’s success under head coach Dr. Gabriel Calderón, Concacaf has formally recognized two of the squad’s standout contributors by naming Brandon Barzey and team captain Lyle Taylor to the official Concacaf Nations League C Best XI.
Montserrat’s performance in Group A was built on complete team execution—from resolute defensive organization and control in central areas to sharp, clinical execution in front of goal. Sweeping all four fixtures against the British Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands required commitment from every member of the squad and coaching staff.
Out of that unified effort, Barzey and Taylor were singled out by tournament organizers for their exceptional contributions across the group stage:
- Brandon Barzey (Midfielder): Reflecting the high-work-rate ethos of the entire squad, Barzey anchored the midfield in all four matches. His two goals were matched by nine tackles, exemplifying the defensive fight and attacking intent that defined Montserrat’s engine room.
- Lyle Taylor (Forward): Leading from the front, captain Lyle Taylor set the standard for the team’s press and attacking output. Beyond finishing as the team’s top scorer with four goals in four appearances, Taylor’s three tackles underlined a complete, team-first mentality.
Individual accolades reflect the quality running through the entire Montserrat setup as focus now shifts to the next challenge. The Emerald Boys turn their attention to November’s two-legged Concacaf Nations League A/C Play-In tie against Nicaragua on November 13 and November 17, with a place in League A on the line.
